VLESS Reality or Hysteria2: which to choose

FreeConVpn issues both protocols for every device. Here is when each one fits better.
VLESS Reality: stealth
- Runs over TCP and disguises itself as an HTTPS connection to a popular website.
- Gets through networks with active filtering best.
- Speed is good, but on a lossy link TCP slows down: every lost packet has to be waited for.
Choose it for: mobile internet and networks where other VPNs are blocked; public Wi-Fi with filtering.
Hysteria2: speed
- Runs over UDP with its own congestion control that does not back off on losses.
- On unstable and long-distance links it is often noticeably faster than TCP protocols.
- Some networks limit or drop UDP — then Hysteria2 will not connect or will be unstable.
Choose it for: home internet, high-quality video, games, large downloads.
In short
| VLESS Reality | Hysteria2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Transport | TCP | UDP |
| Getting past filters | better | worse if UDP is dropped |
| Speed on a bad link | lower | higher |
Rule of thumb
- Start with Hysteria2: if it connects and stays stable, keep it.
- If it does not connect or keeps dropping, switch to VLESS Reality.
- If neither works, change the server with the button in your account or contact support.
